Germany is a European country that was founded on the 18th of January 1871. It lies in central-western Europe.

The country has a beautiful landscape of hills, rivers, mountains, forests, and beaches. It’s capital Berlin, is known for its famous landmarks. Berlin is the largest city of Germany and holds historical significance, the Berlin opera and the Berlin philharmonic orchestra are world-widely famous.

First World War

The first world war began on 28th July 1914 and lasted till 11th November 1918.

The main cause of the war was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who was holding a significant position in Austria, Hungary. Archduke and his wife were killed by the Serbian nationalist. To retaliate the German Austrian army attacked Serbia, which eventually leads to the first world war.

Allies of the First World War

During World War One, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire together fought with the Entente Powers that included Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan, China, and the United States. The Entente were linked by the Treaty of London which was signed on 5th September 1914.

Effects of War on Germany

The country which faced the consequences of World War One was Germany as it was responsible for the beginning of the war.

According to the Treaty of Versailles, that was signed for the establishment of the peace and to end the war between Germany and the Entente, Germany had to accept the responsibility of causing the damage of the war and had to compensate the damage by paying money.

Casualties in Germany

According to the United States Public Broadcasting Service, 1,773,700 Germans were killed, 4,216,058 were injured. 1,152,800 casualties in World War One.

Why Germany Had the Most Casualties

The rate of death and casualties was greater in Germany as the Germans had to fight on two fronts it was fighting against in the west and on the eastern side, it must protect itself from Russia.

Germany was the only country that was fully involved in the war and a large number of the German army was also involved in the war which resulted in more deaths of people as more people were taking part in the war.

Why Was the First World War So Destructive

World War One was so deadly because the loss of lives was greater than any other wars. After all, the militaries have been using new warfare techniques which have made the war more sophisticated.

New technologies like tanks, submarines, machine guns, modern artillery and poison gases were used in the war as a result of which the war was advanced and the number of casualties and destruction rate was higher than the previous wars.

What Changes World War One Imposed on the World

The world war ended on the 11th of November 1918 but its effects were far-reaching. World war changed the perception of people. Countries began to design modern and sophisticated weapons in case any war begins in the future to cope with the world.

It leads towards the downfall of many powerful states which included Germany, Austria, Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Russia.

Million and millions of people were butchered mercilessly in the world war people mourned on the deaths of their loved ones.

CONCLUSION

World War One has its long-lasting effects on the countries that were part of it. It destroyed empires and states and encouraged the independence movements in European countries. America was compelled to become the superpower and took over the international world.
